Oumou Sangaré is set to release her new album ‘Mogoya’ on May 19th

Mali’s famed singer Oumou Sangaré is stronger than ever on “Here Faga” The Fader

Oumou Sangaré will release her new album Mogoya on May 19th, featuring the Fela Kuti drummer and Afrobeat founder, Tony Allen. The Grammy-Winner is announcing the release of her new album alongside the first single ‘Yere Faga’ which also features the drumming Allen.

Her first material in 8 years, Mogoya (which translates to ‘People Today) is co-produced by the French team A.l.b.e.r.t (Air, Beck, Franz Ferdinand), and also finds Oumou relocating to French indie label Nø Førmat – also home to Blick Bassy and ALA.NI. The sparing production across Mogoya is something of a sea change for Oumou, an incredible 28 years after Sangaré shifted 200,000 copies of her debut, Moussolou.

Oumou is set to perform at London’s Scala on May 16th, just ahead of the album’s release.
