Karine Polwart

Karine Polwart – five-time winner at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards – in 2017 gave life to the multi-disciplinary concept, ‘Wind Resistance’. Following the release of her acclaimed 2012 release ‘Traces’ – produced by Chvrches’ Iain Cook, & short-listed for the Scottish Album of The Year award – Polwart solidified this fascination with nature’s ‘mechanisms of survival’ in what she describes as a ‘theatrical sketch’. Following tentative, baptism-of-fire debuts of the material between a small Stoke Newington church & a bar in her native Edinburgh, Karine was invited by the Lyceum Theatre to craft what would become the full ‘Wind Resistance’ theatrical stage production for the 2016 Edinburgh Festival.
