Julia Leggett confirmed as Chief Executive Officer of ACM16 November 2012
Julia Leggett has been confirmed as Chief Executive Officer of ACM (The Academy of Contemporary Music).
Julia will take up her position with immediate effect and resume responsibility for all aspects of business development.
Founded by Chairman Phil Brookes 17 years ago with a Prince’s Trust loan, Julia joined ACM in 2004, having previously held several Director level positions in large technology companies. Starting at ACM as a part-time consultant working on ACM’s business development strategy, Julia has since played a key role in establishing ACM as Britain’s leading music college, overseen branches of the Academy launch overseas in South Africa, Europe and America, and begun rolling out ACM as a franchise in Britain.
Speaking of the appointment, Julia Leggett said, “It is an honour to be entrusted to lead all the ACM brands both domestically and internationally. My key objective is to ensure ACM continues to maintain its market leadership in contemporary music education by consistently delivering the highest possible standards in music education.” ….
Phil Brookes said, “I’m thrilled to appoint Julia to the position of CEO after the pivotal role she has played in ACM’s success. Julia’s passion for music and education combined with her talent for marketing and innovation makes her perfectly equipped to spearhead the continued growth of ACM Worldwide.”
ACM is currently in talks with several major overseas cities about setting up colleges under the ACM brand, delivering ACM’s curriculum. Here in the UK, plans for ACM centres in major cities are in the pipeline, with ACM South Coast (Bournemouth) opening last year, and another centre due in Manchester. In a UK first for a music college, this autumn ACM opened a music school within a secondary school.
