The Hics sell out Electrowerkz, release debut EP

“It’s sure as hell intriguing” NME
“Blissful…we’ll be hearing an awful lot more about them in the near future ” Line of Best Fit
“A big step-up…the six-piece finding their voice in nu-soul ” This is Fake DIY

Hotly-tipped South London six-piece The Hics released their debut EP, ‘Tangle’, on August 19 and played their first headline show at a sold-out London Electrowerkz on August 1.

The ‘Tangle’ EP introduces The Hics’ smooth and unique blend of beats, soul and classical influences. Early blog favourites ‘Lines’ and ‘Cold Air’ are here for the first time, awash with the yearning co-vocals of Sam and Roxana. Lead track ‘Tangle’ is just as atmospheric, with influences ranging from James Blake to Little Dragon and Robert Glasper. Rounding off with ‘Russian Dolls’, The Hics’ debut EP points to a maturity surpassing their years – and both a testament to, and reaction against, their formal school days.

The band were included in The Telegraph’s ‘New Faces’ feature recently (view here) as well as being The Guardian’s New Band of the Day in July (view here).
